Your New Year’s Eve options on the box

Don’t fancy another night out on New Year’s Eve? There are plenty of attractions on TV if you’re staying in, starting with Patrick Kielty.
He hosts The Late Late New Year’s Eve Show on RTÉ1 at 10.20pm, with a star-studded studio filled with plenty of surprises and music performances.
Patrick will be celebrating the year gone by with Olympians Charlene Maudsley, Mona McSharry and Paralympian Orla Comerford, and there is music from the RTÉ Concert Orchestra, The Undertones and Picture This; plus James Blunt and rising stars Clinton Liberty, Alisha Weir, and Justine Stafford also drop by.
Over on TG4, Fáilte 2025 on New Year’s Eve at 11.30pm is hosted by Dáithí Ó Sé and Doireann Ní Ghlacáin, who will ring in 2025 with traditional Irish music and song.
Guests include Beflast’s Cultúrlann McAdam Ó Fiaich, with Máire Brennan, Ríoghnach Connolly, John McSherry, and Piaras Ó Lorcáin.
If you prefer some laughs to see out 2024, The Last Leg Of The Year on Channel 4 on New Year’s Eve at 9pm sees Adam Hills, Josh Widdicombe and Alex Brooker ed by special guests Chris McCausland, Sandi Toksvig, Guz Khan, AJ Odudu and Josh Pugh. Plus, a special appearance from Craig David.
Or celebrate the new year with a Corkman, in The Graham Norton New Year’s Eve Show on BBC1 at 10.25pm. Singer Robbie Williams performs, while actor Rami Malek, Strictly Come Dancing judge Motsi Mabuse and stand-up comedian John Bishop are also on the sofa.
It’s followed at 11.30pm by Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s New Year’s Eve Disco as the star brings all her fun and energy to New Year’s Eve.
The event, recorded in London, will see Sophie ed on stage by some very special guests as she performs her hits as well as some surprise numbers.
Music fans can see Jools’ Annual Hootenanny on BBC2 at 11.30pm, where the Pianoman and his Rhythm & Blues Orchestra are ed by Boomtown Rats, Marc Almond, Roger Taylor of Queen, Paul Carrack, CMAT, Jade, Jungle, Kathy Sledge, Ruby Turner and Toby Lee.
As is tradition, Jools counts down the seconds to midnight, before the Pipes and Drums of the 1st Battalion Scots Guards play.
