Tell us a little bit about yourself;

I was born and bred in Cork and I’m fortunate to live with my wife and two kids in Monkstown next to the brilliant Cork harbour. I am originally from Friars Walk in the city and went to Coláiste Chríost Ri and then UCC to study commerce before spending the next 20 years working across the UK and Europe. We moved back to Cork when the kids were young and found our dream spot by the water.

What is your ideal way to spend a Friday night?

It is always nice for us to meet a few friends at the end of the week in our local pub, the Ensign, have a couple of early pints and then walk back up the hill for a takeaway and a movie with the kids (although they are really not kids anymore).

Lie ins or up with the lark.. which is it for you?

Lark, I used to travel a lot so early morning flights were a weekly thing and my body clock still thinks I am doing it. It is nice to be up early and have a nice coffee before all the madness starts.

Does work creep into your weekend at all?

It does, in those early mornings but it is manageable and normally consists of just catching up on emails and .

If money was no object where would you head to on a weekend city break? And who would you bring with you?

Alvor (although it wouldn’t count as a city) in Portugal with the family, we have loved going there for the last 20 years. If not there, I think London is a great city.

Closer to home, is there some place you like to head to recharge the batteries?

I love West Cork and I don’t think you can beat Crookhaven or Inchydoney for a walk and a bowl of chowder.

Do you like to catch up with family/friends at the weekend?

Very much, it’s always fun to catch up and most weekends that is part of the plan.

Do you get to indulge any hobbies? Even as a spectator?

I love watching rugby and hurling is a bit special even though we lost the final. I like going out on the water, cycling and walking the dog.

Entertain or be entertained? If it’s the latter do you have a signature dish?

Be entertained, I hate cleaning up!

We have so many places to eat out in Cork - where are your go to spots for coffee/ lunch/ special meal?

I went to Goldie recently with family and that was a bit special. A brilliant combination of great seafood and friendly service. Lunch in Fota resort is a regular treat, it’s close to the ePower office and the food is great.

Sunday night comes around too fast.. how do you normally spend it?

Sunday is very much a chillout night, we would normally be found watching Netflix with a glass of wine.

What time does your alarm clock go off on Monday morning?

6am.

Anything else you are up to right now...

We’re busy rolling out EV chargers and solar with the great team in ePower. Great to be involved in this new green industry which is transforming how we use energy and save money in our everyday lives.
