Frankie’s pizza on South Mall has announced their closure, citing the difficulty of operating a food business in the current economic climate.
The popular pizza location, which operated from the boardwalk between South Mall and Grand Parade, had opened in May 2023.
Sharing the news on social media, the team wrote: “It’s with great sadness and a heavy heart that we have decided to no longer continue with Frankie’s.
“It’s widely known how difficult it is to operate food business in today’s current climate in cork city and ultimately that has led to this decision.” T
They added: “A huge thanks to our staff and ers. See you on the next venture.”
This closure represents a rocky start to 2025 for the hospitality industry - Pizzeria San Marco in Midleton, Kabin cafes in both Ballincollig and Ballinhassig and Guji coffee bar in the Marina Market have also all announced their closures in recent weeks.
