Songwriter and performer Myles Gaffney is returning to the stage at Cyprus Avenue on Friday, April 4 to record a live album, accompanied by a seven-piece band.

Speaking ahead of the gig, Mr Gaffney said that he has always wanted to make a live album in his hometown of Cork.

“The I have got over the years from my fellow Corkonians is truly remarkable and I thank the people sincerely.

“I myself listen mostly to live albums and performances when I’m listening to music and it’s always been an ambition of mine to record my own live album.

“This live album is 10 years in the making,” Mr Gaffney said.

“I have taken my best and most popular songs from my three previous albums to perform on the evening, along with four brand-new tracks never heard in public before and, of course, some of my favourites, such as Back Home in Derry and other Irish classics.”

Mr Gaffney said he thrives off live performance and audience .

“I love a good old-fashioned sing song and when I’m on stage and the audience s in on the songs, it’s an amazing feeling.

“I want to capture these moments live as this gig is not only being recorded for audio, it’s also been recorded for visual content.”

Hearing his followers’ and ers’ voices in the album is important to Mr Gaffney, who will be ed on the evening by fellow Cork songwriter Kelvin Long.

Mr Gaffney, mainly a folk and ballad artist, has received Grammy nominations for his music.

The Knocknaheeny native has previously said his music is “rooted” in his working class background.

Tickets for his gig are available from Eventbrite, Cyprus Avenue’s website, or on all of Mr Gaffney’s social-media platforms.
