Fota’s concert for conservation to be held this Saturday

This Saturday evening, Fota Wildlife Park will host an evening entitled Concert for Conservation to raise funds to help conserve Madagascar’s wildlife.

Billed as an evening of classical renditions of wildlife-inspired hits, the evening will see Cork-based quartet Cascade Strings present ‘Untamed Melodies — A Celebration of Global Biodiversity’ in the auditorium of the park’s education, conservation, and research centre.

The setlist will include string interpretations of beloved standards like The Lion Sleeps Tonight, Hey Hey We’re the Monkees, and The Bare Necessities.

The event is held to raise funds for Wildlife Madagascar, a conservation organisation that collaborates with communities to conserve Madagascar’s biodiversity.

The evening will include a short presentation on the conservation programmes at Fota Wildlife Park, and the efforts being undertaken to help save endangered species from extinction in Madagascar.

Fota Wildlife Park is a conservation charity whose vision is to inspire people to understand and conserve the biodiversity of the natural world.

It cares for a variety of endangered animal species and actively participates in long-standing breeding programmes in collaboration with zoological institutions worldwide.

These efforts contribute to restoring populations of some species while ensuring the survival of others.

Fota Wildlife Park provides financial and essential resources to conservation projects both in Ireland and internationally.

These include the Breeding Waders EIP, the Natterjack Toad Head Starter Programme, the European Life-funded Corncrake Project, the Madagascan Pochard initiative, and conservation efforts for the Tonkin snub-nosed monkey and the western black crested gibbon in Vietnam, among others.

Tickets for the concert are priced at €25, plus a booking fee, and are available on Eventbrite.
