Rower Mags Cremen wins top UCC sporting award

Olympic finalist Mags Cremen, Cork’s All-Ireland camogie winner Aoife Healy, and All-Star hurling full-back Eoin Downey were among those feted at Monday evening’s UCC sports star awards.
Rower Cremen was the overall 2024/25 sportsperson of the year winner in recognition of her outstanding performances over the past 12 months, which included a European silver medal in the lightweight single sculls, fifth place at the Paris Games along with Aoife Casey in the lightweight double sculls, and the title of fastest female at the recent Irish trials.
Cork hurler Eoin Downey and Cork dual operator Aoife Healy were two of eight individual UCC sports award winners.

The other six were sprinter Katie Bergin, archer Beau Poydence, hockey player Micaela Sanderson, weightlifter Shane Roche, football forward Aoibhin Donnelly, and flanker Peter Hyland.
UCC Demons point guard Daryl Cuff took the young sportsperson of the year award, with rower Adam Murphy and UCC second-row Michael Foy receiving the international representation awards.
UCC’s rugby seconds were awarded team of the year for winning the 2024 Munster Junior Cup; women’s hockey second team coach Mark Mulcahy was the coach of the year; David Holmes of the Judo club picked up the Kieran Dowd Special Achievement award.
Munster and Ireland rugby legend Moss Finn was the Hall of Fame recipient.
