The incidence rate of long Covid in Dublin and the rest of Leinster is significantly higher than the rest of the country based on a survey carried out by Ireland Thinks, that was commissioned by Independent TD Denis Naughten

Of those who self-reported symptoms, 67 per cent said they experienced a continuation of symptoms more than twelve weeks after an initial infection with Covid-19.

The study found that people with long Covid had as many as 33 symptoms, with the median being eight. Some were sick for up to 20 months and the median was one year.

Independent TD Denis Naughten called on the Taoiseach to ‘act now’ to address the care needs of those with symptoms.
