Gardaí are appealing for witnesses after a male cyclist (50s) was seriously injured in a serious single vehicle road traffic incident involving a bicycle on Achill, Co Mayo.

The accident occurred on the L1406 Dugort to Slievemore road on Tuesday morning 30th July.

The male cyclist was brought to Galway University Hospital for treatment of his serious injuries.

The road was closed for technical examination by forensic collision investigators but has since reopened.

Gardaí have appealed to anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward, including road s with camera footage, including dash-cam, who were travelling on the L1406 Dugort to Slievemore road on Achill on Tuesday between 9.30am and 12pm.
They are asked to make the footage available to gardaí.
