Saturday sport: Chelsea edge Everton, Spurs thrash Southampton

Premier League
Chelsea have beaten Everton 1-0 in the late Premier League game of the day.
Jorginho scored from the penalty spot after Ben Chilwell was taken down in the box just before half-time.
Defender Ben Godfrey had to be stretchered off for the Toffees after a lengthy stoppage to play.

Play was also stopped in the second half after a medical emergency in the crowd.
Earlier, Spurs picked up all three points at home to Southampton in their opening league game of the season.
Two goals in two second half minutes made it 4-1 to Spurs at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Bournemouth secured their first victory on their return to the top table of English football.
They beat Aston Villa 2-0 in week one thanks to goals from Jefferson Lerma and Kieffer Moore.
Leeds came from behind to beat Wolves 2-1 at Elland Road with an own goal settling the game in the second half.
Newcastle had a 2-0 win over new boys Nottingham Forest thanks to strikes from Callum Wilson and Fabian Schar.

Liverpool's Premier League title challenge took an early blow as they were held to a 2-2 draw at newly promoted Fulham.
The Merseysiders had to twice come from behind with Aleksandar Mitrovic getting a brace for the hosts at Craven Cottage.
New g Darwin Nunez and Mo Salah got the goals for Liverpool.
FAI Cup
Defending champions Wexford Youths are level 1-1 with DLR Waves in the quarter-finals of the Women's FAI Cup.
Katie Malone put the Dublin side in front with a close range header before Nicola Sinnot equalised for Youths.
League leaders Shelbourne booked their place in the semi-finals with a 3-2 win over Dublin rivals Peamount this afternoon.
Elsewhere, Bohemians beat Sligo Rovers 3-1.
Cork City have made the trip to Athlone Town with that game just kicked.

A vigil will be held this evening to the life of Tipperary hurler Dillon Quirke.
The 24-year-old died while playing a club match for Clonoulty Rossmore last night.
The club have tweeted to say will gather at their grounds at 8:15pm to pay their respects to the All-Ireland minor and Under 21 winner.

Leona Maguire shot a third round 71 at the Women's Open this afternoon.
The former world amateur champion remains on 2 under par for the tournament at Muirfield.

Shane Lowry was level par after four holes of his third-round when play was suspended in North Carolina.
He's eight shots off the lead which is being shared by Brandon Wu, Joohyung Kim and Ryan Moore.
Racing
The feature of today's eight race card at the Curragh, the Group 1 Keeneland Phoenix Stakes was won by Little Big Bear.
The 2nd favourite was lead to victory by Ryan Moore for trainer Aidan O'Brien.
The final race of the day, the 5:25pm Handicap went to Big Gossey at a price of 15 to 8.
And there’s also a seven-race card at Kilbeggan this evening, where the first race was won by the favourite Nikini.
