Tottenham are level with Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table following a big win over Leicester City this evening.

Hyeung Min Son scored a hattrick off the bench as Spurs put Brendan Rogers side to the sword with a 6-2 victory.

It means the Foxes are without a win in 7 games so far this season.

Elsewhere, Erling Haaland found the back of the net again as the champions beat Wolves 3-0 at lunchtime.

Newcastle remains without a league win since the opening day of the season after being held 1-1 at home by Bournemouth.

Eddie Howe's side have now drawn five of their first seven top-flight matches.

Peamount United beat Sligo Rovers 2-0 with Aine O'Gorman and Sadbh Doyle finding the back of the net for the Dublin side.

Becky Cassin scored for Cork City in the 90th minute to beat Galway 1-0.

Rugby

Munster have kicked off their United Rugby Championship campaign with a loss.

They came away from Wales with a losing bonus point as Cardiff took the victory 20-13.

Leinster had to hold on to get the win over Zebre in Parma this afternoon.

Jason Jenkins touched down on his debut as Leo Cullen's side recorded a bonus point 33-29.

In the late fixture, Ulster got a home win over Connacht, ending 36-10 at Ravenhill.

Golf

Rory McIlroy's level par round of 71 today has left him just off the lead after the third-round of the Italian Open.

He sits on 9 under par, just one back from outright leader Matt Fitzpatrick of England.

Ireland's Matthew Mclean has booked his spot at next year's US Open and the Masters after winning the US Mid Amateur tournament this afternoon.

The Malone clubman edged compatriot Hugh Foley 2 and 1 to win at Erin Hills in Wisconsin.

The victory secures McClean's entry into the two Majors in 2023.

Australian Football

Sydney Swans will face Geelong in next Saturday's AFL Grand Final.

The Swans have held off Collingwood to win 95-94 at the Sydney Cricket Ground in a thrilling preliminary final.

Laois' Zach Tuohy and Kerry's Mark O'Connor will both be hoping to become Premiership champions with Geelong in next week's decider.
