Here's the latest updates from Sunday's sporting action...

Soccer

Aston Villa secured a 2-0 win away to Tottenham in the first Premier League game of 2023.

Ami Buendía netted in the 50th minute to give the visitors the lead, before Douglas Luiz added the second in the 73rd minute.

The loss denies Spurs a return to the top four.

In the second game of the day, Chelsea failed to capitalise on an early lead, finishing 1-1 away to Nottingham Forest.

Raheem Sterling opened the scoring for the Blues, who previously had taken just one win from seven league games, but a 63rd-minute goal from Serge Aurier pulled the hosts level.

Rugby

Munster came from behind to take victory over Ulster in Ravenhill in the United Rugby Championship.

The hosts led 9-0 at half-time thanks to three penalties from John Cooney, but a second half try from Paddy Patterson put the Munster men back in it, allowing Ben Healy to steal the game with a try in the dying moments of the game.

In the second match-up between the provinces, Leinster defeated Connacht 41-12 at the RDS.

The homeside ran over seven tries, coming from Liam Turner, Brian Deeny, Jordan Larmour, Rob Russell, Charlie Ngatai and Josh van dear Flier.

Both of Connacht's tries came in the first half from Daivd Hawshaw and Tom Farrell.

Earlier, Cardiff lost 19-22 at home against the Ospreys, while it's 16-17 in favour of the Dragon who are facing Scarlets in the second 5.15pm kickoff of the day.

Darts

Michael Smith is through to the semi-finals of the PDC World Darts Championship.

Smith, a finalist 12 months ago, defeated Stephen Bunting 5-3.

Earlier, Belgian Dimitri Van de Bergh booked his place in the last 4 with a 5-3 win over Jonny Clayton of Wales.
