Planning sought for 70 homes in Cork city

An application seeking to develop more than 70 homes in a Cork city suburb has been submitted to Cork City Council.

The application, submitted to the local authority last week by Diamond Developments Ltd, is seeking to develop 72 residential units at a site in the townland of Monfieldstown and Mount Oval in Rochestown.

The proposed plans will see the demolition of existing agricultural sheds and structures, which are already present at the site, for the provision of the residential development, which will consist of a mix of dwelling houses and apartments.

The residential development will feature some 10 three-bed houses and 62 apartments, comprising of 21 one-bed units and 41 two-bed units.

The apartments will be organised in two blocks, ranging in height from four and five storeys, with solar s situated at roof level.

Works at the site will also include provisions for vehicular and pedestrian access to the Woodbrook Rd and Rochestown Rd Roundabout; as well as car and bicycle parking, footpaths, lighting and bike and bin storage.

Cork City Council is due to make a decision on the application, which is at the pre-validation stage, by July 17.
