Griffin United's Sean T back on song at Michael O'Mahony Draghunt

Cork Draghunting: Sean O'Sullivan with Sean T of Griffin United, winner of the Michael O'Mahony Memorial Senior Draghunt at Blackpool.
Sean T of Griffin United came back to form and captured the Michael O’Mahony Memorial Senior Draghunt at sun-drenched Blackpool on Monday.
Credit to the organisers they put together a good open course and before a good holiday attendance they were treated to a good finish.
As the hounds came into a view, there were a few battling for the lead but on the race to the tape, it proved to be a great day for the Griffin United club as they completed a 1.2 with the winner seeing off the challenge of Knock’s Boy.
The consistent Wolfe Tone Lady took third ticket for Northern Hunt trainer Martin Wall as the winning father and son partnership of John and Sean O’Sullivan looked pleased with their latest success.
In the Senior Maiden Draghunt there was a third success of the season for the Ger and Jennifer Kenneally trained Knockane Jack who saw off the consistent Hannah Bawn from Pat O’Mahony’s Kerry Pike/Fair Hill Harriers kennel.
Veteran Blue Lad trained by Trina and Ken Long of Southern/Carrigaline Harriers showed there is plenty of life in the old dog yet with a cracking third ticket.
The same venue hosted the Puppy Draghunt on Saturday and for the first time this season, the Puppy Maiden grade was introduced.

To be fair the Senior pups got the day off to a great start with a terrific draghunt with the hounds lifting on the hunt.
When the hounds came into the view of the trainers, they were a few in with a chance and in a driving race to the tape the first three hounds refused to relent as the camera was required to separate them.
In the end the verdict for first place was given to the James Wyse Griffin United-trained Jamie’s Lad who got the verdict from the consistent Mossgrove Rodger trained by Finbarr O’Sullivan of Shanakiel Harriers.
The third hound in the photo finish was Kempes from Gerry Murphy’s Shanakiel Harriers kennel.
After the draghunt the winning trainer couldn’t hide his delight with his first winner in the sport.
“Jamie’s Lad is my first hound and my first winner so it’s a huge thrill for me to get this win under my belt,” Jamie Wyse said.
There was also a popular winner in the Puppy Maiden draghunt when the mother and daughter partnership of Lorraine and Julie Freyne had their first win of the season with the aptly named Born to Run landed the spoils in impressive fashion.
The winner never looked likely to be headed as he crossed the tape ahead of the Thomas and Chloe Murray-trained The Dreamer of Shanakiel Harrier.
William Freyne and Ryan Duffy of Clogheen will be pleased with the run of The Model who snatched third ticket.
