Met Éireann has warned of lightning damage and spot flooding.

This year marked the first spring that was more than two degrees higher than the 20th century average for the same period.

Alan Mahy is now constantly monitoring the weather forecasts and has called on Met Éireann to issue flood warnings as well as wind and rain warnings in forecasts.

Saturday is set to start off mainly dry, with rain spreading eastwards across the country through the morning and early afternoon.

Met Éireann is warning of a risk of spot flooding, and lightning damage.

The alert will be in place until 8pm on Monday

While temperatures are set to be high, there will showers throughout the week as well.

Temperatures could hit 26 degrees in parts of Connacht on Saturday

The warning began just after 2 pm and runs until 8pm on Wednesday evening.

Met Éireann said the fine and dry weather in Ireland will continue next week

A record-breaking temperature for April was recorded on April 30th in Co Galway.

Wednesday is set to be a scorcher with Met Éireann predicting highs of 25 degrees, which would be a record for April.

A series of yellow weather warnings are also in place across the island.

Cork, Kerry, Galway, Mayo, and Clare will be under the yellow warning until 9pm on Friday night, while Carlow, Dublin, Kilkenny, Louth, Wexford, Wicklow, Waterford have the warning until 6am Saturday morning.

Galway and Mayo are included in one warning that expires at 9pm Friday.

It will affect Louth, Meath, Dublin, Wicklow and Wexford from 9pm on Tuesday until 2pm on Wednesday.

Monday will be the warmest day of the year, with highest temperatures of 14 to 19 degrees.

Met Éireann said high pressure will continue to bring settled conditions and plenty of sunshine.

From 2 pm on Friday until 2 pm on Saturday, a yellow rain warning is in place for Carlow, Kilkenny, Galway, Wexford, and all of Munster.

One person said the frequent use of red warnings was leading to cancelled work and people getting ‘hunkered down’ unnecessarily.

While some decent spells of sunshine are likely for a time, mainly in parts of the west, it will generally become cloudier through the morning, with just the occasional sunny spell afterwards.

Highest temperatures on Friday will range from six to nine degrees with moderate northeast winds easing later. It will be cold tonight with clear spells.

The forecast for the weekend is for “unsettled” weather with rain or showers at times and some blustery winds possible in the south.

Met Éireann is warning hazardous driving conditions are likely.

The warning will last until 9am on Sunday morning.

The bitterly cold Arctic airmass that has been affecting the country for several days will start to move away, with milder conditions developing later in the weekend.

The yellow warning is valid up until 12pm on Friday with the worst of the cold snap looking to be behind us.

The cold snap has caused temperatures to plummet to -7.5 degrees in parts, and left tens of thousands of people without power and water.

Temperatures are expected to climb from the low of minus 7 degrees recorded in the early hours of Thursday

A status yellow low temperature and ice warning will remain in place for the entire country until lunchtime on Friday.

Around 4,000 people are still without power while 4,500 are without water, though more sub-zero conditions overnight are expected to cause more disruption.
