Figures provided to the Labour Party by the HSE, through a parliamentary question show that a total of 1,206 people in Cork are overdue their assessment of need.

When December 2024 primary care waiting lists for the Cork and Kerry region are added together, they show that 42,053 were awaiting services, and compared to 25,968 during 2019 — an increase of 16,085, or 62%.

A ‘major effort’ now needs to go into recruitment, with 74% of roles vacant in HSE’s Cork South Lee region.
